There are many variants of systems which handle and process logs and chips in kraft mills. But they all work toward the same goal -- maximize the delivery of prime chips to the digester system by removing the unwanted material (chips too big or too small, wood of inferior quality, and contaminants such as bark, metal, sand and rocks).
