Alberta Pacific at Boyle, Alberta

Alberta Pacific's fibreline was started up in 1993. At more than 2000 tpd, it is the world's largest single-line aspen kraft pulp mill. Actually a swing mill, it produces bleached kraft pulp from aspen about 90% of the time; the balance is spruce/pine pulp. The two-vessel hydraulic Downflow Lo-Solids digester is followed by a two-stage atmospheric diffuser, a single-stage medium-consistency oxygen delignification system with twin-roll presses before and after, and a DEopD bleach plant with conventional vacuum drum filters. The pulp drying machine is ten bales wide.
